Cupcakes

I have begun a new adventure.  It's kind of my husband's fault.  He thought it would be a good idea for me to be a vendor at a craft fair where he works.  All items must be hand made, must offer items under $5, all registration fees go to charity...you get the idea.  So, I thought cupcakes and cakes.  It's really hard to knit or crochet things and make money off them.  They're just too time consuming and tedious.  Anyway, I had a wedding cake at the end of February.  I took the last two Wilton classes. I agreed to do a craft fair that my cousin was organizing. That one was a total bust, but good experience.  It's kind of been non-stop cake stuff around here for the last couple months.  I now have 2 cakes to make for May 4th, the big craft fair May 9th & 10th, and a cake for May 19th.  Whoa Nelly!  One of the May 4th cakes is for my daughter who will be turning 1.  I'm really hoping the other events help me get a decent client base for future orders.  Right now I only have the stuff in May and then nothing until a possible double birthday party in August.  I may or may not have two in July for a friend of mine.

I'm not sure how to add pictures here, but I am posting my work on Pinterest and my Facebook album for cakes.  I will figure it out though and share my current work.  I like seeing what other people come up with.  It's great inspiration.

I don't want to make a fortune decorating cakes.  I don't think I'll ever be as talented as the folks you see on TV. However, I have not yet had a cake request that I couldn't fulfill.  Mostly I want to have something to do that helps me feel like I am contributing to the household.

Hey, guess what.  I figured out the pics.  This one is an Eagle Scout cake from last May, but I thought it turned out pretty cool.  I will still post my upcoming projects and share how the business end of things is going.  I'm very new to blogging. I hope you'll stick with me as I learn and try to make it interesting and nice to look at. Next week I will share my homemade fondant recipe and the flowers I'm making for cupcakes.
